The Government of India says nuclear energy will be a major component of the '24 critical initiatives' that will be taken up by the different ministries in India, to combat climate change. Minister of State for Environment and Forests, Mr. Jairam Ramesh said 'the Prime Minister wants 20,000 Megawatts of nuclear energy to be generated by 2020, taking the aid of the French and the Russians.'
